Smart Mobility Solution (SMS) Campus
The chair "Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components" (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University has its home in the German-Dutch "Avantis European Science and Business Park" near Aachen – Avantis for short. Together with numerous neighbors such as Europe's most modern TÜV battery testing center for electric vehicles, the chair spin-off PEM Motion, DroidDrive (Ducktrain), Velocity Aachen and many other players in the mobility sector, the RWTH facility forms the "Smart Mobility Solution (SMS) Campus". The goal of the PEM team is a seamless "innovation chain" from basic research to large-scale production in the immediate vicinity.
Therefore, in addition to the headquarters on Avantis, the PEM employees are involved in various projects at other research locations:
- at the Electromobility Laboratory (eLab) of RWTH Aachen University on RWTH Aachen Campus
- at the E-Truck Research Hall Rotter Bruch in Aachen's eastern district
- at the E-Motor Research Site Cologne
