AIM
Additive Injection Molds
Motivation and Procedure
In the manufacturing of lithium-ion cells, the early processes of mixing and coating of the electrode slurry play a decisive role in securing the quality of the cell. The detection of defects on the surface and within the electrode layers represents a major challenge for in-line quality control of lithium-ion cell production, which is due to the large coating width and the high coating speeds. The early, continuous detection of defects makes it possible to minimize rejects, reduce manufacturing and material costs, and enhance the quality of the cell.
The project is funded during the period from 05/01/2017 to 04/30/2019 by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy.
