Production of Electric Storage Systems (HEE)

A Brief Introduction

In electric vehicles, electrochemical energy storage systems are one of the main components. They provide the energy for propulsion, they are one of the main cost factors, and they are safety-critical for the e-mobile due to their electrical, mechanical and chemical properties. The state of the art for these storage devices is lithium-ion technology, which has gained acceptance due to its high energy density and steadily decreasing costs.

The lithium-ion battery value chain

The lecture "Manufacturing of Electrical Energy Storage" (HEE) provides insights into the value chain of the lithium-ion battery. Starting from its areas of application and its mode of operation, the production is highlighted from the components of the individual battery cells to the assembly of the complete battery pack. This includes cross-cutting issues such as factory planning, quality assurance and battery safety testing. Finally, there is an overview of the value-added structures and recycling possibilities surrounding the lithium-ion battery.
